  • 24-Month Contract – The 1GB NeoConnect Prime service comes only with a 24-month contract. This means, although they say that you can cancel at any time without incurring any penalties, you will have to pay the remainder of the device cost. In fact, you will have to pay R80 for every month that’s still remaining on your contract the day you decide to cancel. It will cost you for example R1760 (R80 x 22 months) to cancel after 2 months.

  • Ethernet vs. USB – The connection device that comes with 1GB NeoConnect Prime only supports USB network connections. This means that you will not be able to increase network performance or increase reliability by making use of an Ethernet network connection, despite the fact that an Ethernet network device will cost more.
  • Price – Although you get 1GB of bandwidth or data usage for R279 per month all included, it’s not the cheapest on the market. ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) recommends that broadband users rather go for iBurst’s Wireless service priced at R239 per month (24-month contract). iBurst will charge you 95c per MB compared to Neotel’s 8c per MB if you go outside the bundle and want to top up. However, remember that with iBurst, you will still be able to surf the net at a throttled speed outside the bundle without incurring any additional cost. Download speeds might be a little bit slower than Neotel’s, but you will get a faster upload speed with iBurst.
