Will the CC rule against Telkom?
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 16
March 2008
It is no secret that the Internet Service Providers’
Association of South Africa (ISPA) has lodged a complaint with the Competition Commission (CC) against
Telkom in 2005. It will come as good news to many that the
CC is planning to rule in the relevant case before June this
year.
ISPA lodged a complaint in December 2005 after Telkom participated
in anti-competitive practices relating to ADSL Broadband and other issues. ADSL South
Africa (Broadband South Africa) expects that the CC will rule against Telkom. In fact, we think Telkom is going
to experience the coldest ‘Winter’ in years. This is despite the sudden cold weather that’s sweeping through
Johannesburg and elsewhere, leaving us all with the additional need for jackets, jerseys, blankets and other
warmers. If the CC rules in favour of Telkom, it will be a national disgrace. Period.
ADSL South Africa
(Broadband South Africa) is happy to hear that the CC is going to rule in the case against Telkom before June this
year. It is high time to make a ruling.
