WiFi: IS brings cheaper mobile calls to
market
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South
Africa), 14 June 2010
Internet Solutions (IS) has partnered with Nashua Mobile to bring a
new WiFi-based product called VoIS Mobile to market. This product not only makes it cheaper for
business customers to communicate, but it comes with the promise of free on-network and on-campus calls,
which in essence means that VoIS Mobile customers can communicate with each other for
free.
Taking the fight to the mobile operators…
Internet Solutions is taking a clear shot at Cell C, MTN and Vodacom if one considers the
aim of their VoIS Mobile product or solution is to make mobile calls cheaper for companies in South
Africa.
The idea with VoIS Mobile is to automatically route mobile calls via the cheapest available
network. In order to accomplish this, Internet Solutions has teamed up with an Israeli company to develop
software that can do just that. This means, that when someone is in the office, typically their mobile calls
will be routed over WiFi and unto the VoIP network of Internet Solutions. This results in cheaper mobile calls since calls are
routed via the cheapest available network.
In other words, given the above, it’s clear that Internet Solutions is taking a shot at the
three mobile operators in South Africa.
