How can I help?

Lodge a complaint (according to ICASA).

‘The ICASA Consumer Complaints Committee encouraged ADSL subscribers who feel that Telkom is not abiding by the ADSL Regulations to lodge a complaint with the council. Consumers can email complaints to VNkwane@icasa.org.za and PMompe@icasa.org.za and are encouraged to give as much detail as possible about their complaints. This includes contact details plus a description of the complaint’ (Telkom reneges on ADSL promise to ICASA and consumers, MyBroadband, 6 July 2007).

In other words, if you feel Telkom is taking you for a ride be sure to drop ICASA a line. ICASA will go to ‘great lengths’ to make sure Telkom gets the punishment it deserves.

Remember : ICASA needs ALL the evidence in the world before it can take action against Telkom. They want you to tell them what Telkom is doing wrong because you are the experts and not them.

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) welcomes Telkom’s non-compliance because it surely leaves the ball in ICASA’s court. Let’s see whether ICASA have what it takes to be a real telecoms regulator.
