What is WiMAX? WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is a standards-based technology that makes the delivery of last mile Wireless Broadband access possible. 

"The last mile is the final leg of delivering connectivity from a communications provider to a customer" (Wikipedia). WiMAX is a very powerful wireless broadband access standard that is also referred to as "WiFi on steroids" or 802.16. The 802.16 designation comes from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). They use a numbering system to classify a wide range of technological protocols.

It's predicted that wireless networking will become so popular that we will be able to access the Internet from almost anywhere at any time. It's just a matter of time. In addition to this, all signs are there that WiMAX will become the dominating Wireless Broadband access standard within the next few years.
