What is WiFi? WiFi is a standard for wireless local area networks (LANs) or wireless networking used by many people to connect their computers at home. Its also called 802.11 networking. This designation comes from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). They use a numbering system to classify a wide range of technological protocols. Radio waves are used by WiFi radios to transmit and receive info via the air making wireless networking possible.
