Vox Telecom acquires 'ABSA
Internet'
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 7 October
2007
Vox Telecom has announced that they will buy ‘…Absa Internet Access
customer contracts and certain computer hardware’ (Vox Telecom buys ‘ABSA Internet,’ MyBroadband, 5 October 2007) through their fully owned
subsidiary, Atlantic Internet Services Limited.
Vox Telecom said in a SENS announcement that the “…board of directors
of Vox Telecom are pleased to advise shareholders of Vox Telecom that the Company has entered into a binding
agreement, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Atlantic Internet Services Limited, to acquire the customer
contracts and certain computer hardware from Absa Bank Limited with effect from the closing date, being the latest
of 1 December 2007 or 2 days after all the conditions precedent have been fulfilled” (Vox Telecom buys ‘ABSA
Internet,’ MyBroadband, 5 October
2007).
In other words, it is in essence the purchase of Absa Internet Access
(AIA) or ‘ABSA Internet.’ This means that ABSA Internet subscribers will become part of the Atlantic subscriber
base before the end of the year.
