Very little room left to
maneuver in…
The fact of the matter is that Virgin
Mobile SA has very little room left to maneuver in, especially giving that it has already cut its rates to the bone
to remain competitive. Bailey looks like the man for the job, but his best efforts will be futile if someone
doesn’t grab ICASA by the throat and
demand that interconnection fees come down for one. It might be a good idea if Bailey launches a campaign that
stresses the fact that MTN and Vodacom are responsible for high interconnection fees and publicly demand that
something must be done about it. This should definitely win public support, especially if its backed up by a
notable improvement in customer and other service levels.
ADSL South
Africa (Broadband South Africa) is of the opinion that it will be wise for Richard Branson to consider pulling
out of the SA telecoms market before more damage is done to the Virgin brand.
