Uphill battle to get base stations
up
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 4 July
2009
It is becoming increasingly clear that
Mobile/Wireless Internet Access Providers (Mobile/Wireless Operators) are fighting an uphill battle to
find suitable high sites. High sites are needed to erect base stations or towers
in order to expand mobile/wireless networks.
Critical to their
success…
The fast and effective erection of
additional base stations/towers is critical to the success of any Mobile/Wireless Internet Access Provider
(Mobile/Wireless operator).
A lack of base stations leads to
network congestion, especially in areas where there is a high demand for Mobile/Wireless Internet Access Services,
which in turn leads to a substantial drop in the quality of the service provided. This is for example, despite the
role greed plays, one of the primary reasons why Neotel and some other Mobile/Wireless Internet access providers
are at the moment struggling to provide reliable Mobile/Wireless Internet access.
