Uncapped ADSL Broadband: Are 'Fair Use Policies' really
fair?
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South
Africa), 12 April 2010
It’s great to see that an increasing number
of ADSL Broadband Providers are offering Uncapped ADSL Broadband Packages at affordable rates, but what really needs to stop is the
tendency to cap high-end users, especially based on ‘Fair Use Policies.’
Stop the
capping…
It’s worrying to see that an increasing number
of ADSL Broadband Providers are capping high-end users that are subscribed to Uncapped ADSL Broadband
Packages, especially when it’s done based on ‘Fair Use Policies’ which are designed to ‘punish’ high-end ADSL
Broadband users.
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) is
not only of the opinion that it’s immoral, but it simply doesn’t make sense that a user is capped when he/she
is subscribed to a service that's advertised as 'Uncapped' ADSL Broadband. We feel that ADSL Broadband
Providers that prefer to go down that road should not be allowed to advertise the relevant services or
packages as ‘uncapped,’ but rather as ‘semi-uncapped’ or not as 'uncapped' at all.
