UEC challenges Sentech over
decoders ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 26 October 2010 UEC, a subsidiary of the JSE-listed Altech group, has filed papers in the Pietermaritzburg high court against state-owned broadcast signal distributor, Sentech. This comes after Sentech has placed an order of over R38m for the production of 70 000 decoders on hold.
What is UEC? UEC is a manufacturer of set-top boxes and digital decoders in the Durban area. Court battle… Sentech has until Thursday or the 28th of October to provide UEC with “conditional access keys” in order to enable UEC to complete production of the mentioned decoders. If Sentech fails to comply, they can expect to face a court battle which can cost the taxpayer millions of rand. |
