Telkom and Virgin Mobile suck at customer
support

The
Ask Afrika Orange Index survey of 2008 has revealed that Telkom and Virgin Mobile suck when it comes to customer
support. Telkom scored 42.76% while Virgin Mobile came in at a low 40.27%, something that Richard Branson will
definitely want to address and
correct.
What is the Ask Afrika Orange Index
survey?
It is an annual survey which measures or rates ‘service excellence’
by giving a % score to companies. The more a company suck at customer service or customer support the lower the %
score will be and vice versa.
Which companies received the highest % scores in the
telecoms sector?
MTN, Cell C and Vodacom.
MTN has scored a high 67.24% while Cell C surprisingly came in at
65.48% and Vodacom at 63%.
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) is not
surprised about Telkom’s low score but really expected more from Virgin Mobile. It seems that Virgin Mobile’s
entrance into the South African market has so far
being disastrous.
