Will prices not increase if Telkom is fined?
There is a risk that prices will increase if Telkom is successfully fined, but ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) believes the Zuma led administration can eliminate this risk through proper intervention. Proper intervention will ensure that consumers don’t end up paying for Telkom’s sins. If Telkom is allowed to pass payment of the fines directly or indirectly unto us, the Average Joes, then it will be a sure sign that something is still seriously wrong with the way the government regulates the SA telecoms market.
How should the money be used?
Like many out there, we at ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) believe that any money Telkom pays for fines should be used to improve telecoms infrastructure in South Africa, especially in the rural areas.
