Telkom is feverishly at work behind the scenes…

Wireless base stations are being erected and negotiations with existing cellular players are steaming ahead.

Central to negotiations is Telkom’s need to roam on the networks of competitors in areas where it will not be financially feasible for them to erect wireless base stations of their own. This should however not hamper Telkom’s ability to compete directly. ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) is of the believe that Telkom will go to great lengths not to enter into agreements that will have a negative impact on their planned cellular service. The last thing they will want to see is a situation where they are very dependent on other cellular service providers.
