Expectations...

It is difficult to come out and say that Telkom’s intention to go mobile is a sure indication that Telkom wants to disinvest in Vodacom, because we will be speculating at best. However, when seen in combination with the fact that Vodacom is actively rolling out fixed-line infrastructure of their own, one can’t help to predict the speedy diminish of the relationship between Telkom and Vodacom from here onwards. ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) believes it’s just a matter of time now before Telkom admits that they want to start mobile operations of their own. This will according to us send a strong signal that Telkom is ready to disinvest in Vodacom.

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) welcomes Telkom’s intention to go mobile although they don’t want to admit it at this stage of the game. If Telkom and Vodacom go their separate ways it will definitely open up the market for more competition and greater things to come.
