Telkom: Acting CEO has his work cut
out
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 1 August
2010
Jeffrey Hedberg, who has taken
over from former Telkom CEO Reuben September as acting Telkom CEO, has his
work cut out for him given the fact that Telkom is facing tough times to say the least. Many believe that a
person of Hedberg’s caliber is needed to turn the telecoms group around for the better. It however remains an
open question if he will stay on as Telkom CEO permanently and whether he will be successful in turning the
group around or not.
Conflict between Senior Management and
the Telkom Board…
Conflict,
or allegations of conflict between Senior Management and the Telkom Board, has resulted in the departure of not
only the former Telkom CEO, Reuben September, but also former Financial Officer (FO) Peter Nelson and no less
than four senior managers. This opened up enough space for Hedberg to step in and become acting CEO of Telkom,
which comes with a great deal of responsibility to say the least.
