TAG: Telecoms Action Group

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 12 September 2006

Firm support for TAG is evident in light of the flood of pledges coming in from all over South Africa. Pledges are now standing at an astonishing R66 800, a 133.6% above the initial target of R50 000.

The Telecoms Action Group (TAG) is a relatively new group that started out with the main aim of providing strong fire support for those already embattled ADSL users (and others). In other words, strongly driven to push Telkom against the wall in order to see some positive action from Telkom’s side. TAG’s campaign is kicking off with a planned full-page advert placement in a national newspaper such as the Mail. To cover the cost of approximately R50 000 they are asking for pledges which are now way over the initial target. Surplus funds will be used in a continuous campaign against Telkom or any deserving telecoms group for that matter.

We leave you with some comments from TAG’s website:

This is a fantastic idea. I can't believe someone hasn't thought of this before. Count me in!” kodek.

“This has my support 100% and I aim to get my aunties, uncles and their second cousins involved in this too! It effects everyone from the richest to the poorest of poor. Even people that don't need telecommunications are affected: Without reliable, and affordable Telecoms this country will never develop, no jobs will be created, and slowly we will slip away into the dark ages” Clayton.

“It's simple really, if more people had access to internet more SA internet sites would be visited creating more money for South Africans and lowering hosting fees. Help bring SA up by taking Telkom’s pricing down” Gavin Mannion.

“Thank god some one is taking the time, and people are helping with the money to make something happen in this country! With the STN looming but nothing EVER happening, it is about time we grab our stakes and pitchforks and brings these fat gravy boat riders DOWN!” Louise van der Bijl.

We encourage all South Africans to support this non-profit group.
