In the past only the tech savvy among us were able to route international and local bandwidth / traffic via different ADSL Broadband accounts in order to benefit the most from local bandwidth / traffic.

Today, through Internet Service Providers (ISPs) such as SAINET,split billing ADSL Broadband is commercially available to any ADSL Broadband user that wishes to make use of this functionality. SAINET was the first Internet Service Provider (ISP) in South Africa to introduce split billing ADSL Broadband commercially in 2010.

Does a split billing ADSL Broadband account really make a difference?

Yes, it most definitely makes a difference.

For example, local bytes are billed at 1/3 of the cost of international bytes with SAINET’s split billing ADSL Broadband service. This drops the effective price of local bandwidth to very low levels, depending on one’s international and local bandwidth usage ratio.

In other words, split billing ADSL Broadband definitely makes it possible to get the most out of local bandwidth, both in terms of quantity and cost savings.
