Smart move

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 2 April 2007

iBurst’s move to release new ‘improved’ out-of-bundle data rates can only be deemed as a smart move. This comes after an outcry from iBurst partners and subscribers, after sky-high out-of-bundle data rates were prematurely released.

Was iBurst just testing the market?

It’s difficult to say whether iBurst tested the market or not, but they will surely be more careful next time before releasing info 'prematurely'.

According to iBurst the “….Booster Bandwidth pricing that was communicated to our channel partners, was sent out prematurely. The final decision on top up pricing had not been made yet” (iBurst releases new ‘improved’ out-of-bundle pricing, MyADSL, 29 March 2007). Also, “iBurst had originally lodged the higher Bandwidth Booster pricing with ICASA, but following internal discussions, we re-lodged the new pricing with ICASA today,”

In other words, they surely tasted enough fire to rethink their initial move.

Can you give us a comparison between the new and previous out-of-bundle data rates?

Sure. We will let the table do the talking. We intentionally left out the initial Booster Bandwidth rates because we don’t believe insult to injury is really the way to go here.

If one thing is very clear from the above table, then it’s the fact that iBurst is definitely trying to beat more than just the inflation rate with the increases.

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) while welcoming iBurst’s new ‘improved’ out-of-bundle data rates, believe that iBurst owe its partners and subscribers an official apology.
