Sentech's WiMAX
plans
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 24 September
2007
Sentech is
planning to build a nationwide WiMAX broadband
network that will replace their current IPWireless technology. The National Treasury recently set aside R500
million to enable Sentech to build such a
network.
Sentech’s CEO, Dr Sebiletso Mokane-Matabane, made it known
when speaking to journalists in Fourways ‘…that everything is on track to build a wireless broadband network to
serve South Africans’ (Sentech’s WiMax Broadband plans, MyBroadband, 19 September
2007).
In other words, according to Sentech nothing is currently standing in their way to build
a WiMAX network of their own.
