Speaking of adequate funding or rather a lack of funding...

It’s clear from the following figures that Sentech is not getting what they requested:

  • Requested R955m to fund switchover to digital terrestrial TV:Treasuryonly allocated R650m. R300m short
  • Requested R917m for dual illumination costs: No money allocated yet. R917m short
  • Requested R3.1bn to fund roll out of nationwide broadband network: Only R500m allocated so far with no solid commitments to allocate the rest of the money. R2.6bn short
  • Requested R140m for participation in undersea cable project: Treasury only allocated R21m. R119m short

Well, we are not going to add up all the fund shortages but it’s clear that it’s running in the billions and that, ONCE AGAIN, the ANC Government does not want Sentech to succeed.

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) senses the end of the once mighty and popular Sentech now strongly than ever before.
