Private equity fund to invest millions in SA
telecoms
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South
Africa), 30 November 2008
The
telecoms revolution in South Africa is fast opening the door to competition. This seems to be the case if one
considers that a Middle Eastern private equity fund is planning to invest millions in SA and other African
telecoms
businesses.
Great news…
This is great news for South Africa especially considering that the
world is currently facing tough economic times and that ICASA and ‘Poison Ivy’ are hell-bent to stop a telecoms
revolution in South Africa (or are at the least trying to overturn the benefits of such a revolution). This
tells us that Delta Partners from Dubai, who manages the private equity fund mentioned-above, is like ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) and
others confident that ICASA and ‘Poison Ivy’ will not succeed in stopping the telecoms revolution or overturning
the benefits it will bring.
Delta Partners is planning to invest more or less USD40m (+- R400m)
of its first fund in Africa, with the focus mainly on South Africa and Southern Africa.
