Pirates delay SEACOM launch
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 4 July
2009
It has become known that modern sea
pirates have delayed the launch of the SEACOM undersea cable system with more or less a
month.
Modern sea pirates…
Pirate activity in
April and May this year has delayed the launch of SEACOM, pushing the launch date beyond the originally planned
date (27th of June 2009). This is
another example of how modern sea pirates are causing havoc in certain parts of the world and are getting bolder by
the day. Unlike their counterparts of the old days, modern sea pirates have access to an arsenal of modern weapons
(assault rifles, RPGs, explosives, et cetera), modern sea vehicles (fast boats, et cetera), modern satellite-based
navigation equipment, etc.
