New Telkom Company Secretary

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 3 June 2007

Telkom has announced the appointment of Sandi Linford as the new Company Secretary with immediate effect. This comes after former Company Secretary Vincent Mashale’s resignation became effective at the end of last month.

When did Linford join Telkom?

Earlier this year.

‘Linford joined Telkom in mid-March 2007 as a consultant in the Company Secretariat, having previously consulted to FCB South Africa on investor relations’ (Telkom appoints Sandi Linford as Company Secretary, MyADSL, 1 June 2007).

In other words, it’s safe to say that Linford is not one of the old faces at Telkom.

What about previous experience? Is she really the person for the job?

Yes.

Previously she worked at the following companies:

  • Murray & Roberts Holdings Limited – According to Telkom: “She brings a wealth of expertise to her new post at Telkom. From November 2004 to November 2006 she was employed by Murray & Roberts Holdings Limited where she was responsible for the statutory administration and secretarial affairs of some 500 companies locally” (Telkom appoints Sandi Linford as Company Secretary, MyADSL, 1 June 2007).

In other words, it’s clear that she gained valuable experience at this well-known South African group of companies (which has a history of over a 100 years).
  • Altron Group – ‘Prior to her stint at Murray & Roberts, Linford had worked at the Altron Group from March 1992 as the company secretary of Power Technologies Limited, a listed sub-holding subsidiary of Altron at the time. She became Altron’s Group Secretary in May 1994’ (Telkom appoints Sandi Linford as Company Secretary, MyADSL, 1 June 2007).

In other words, she gained experience at another well-known South African group of companies.
  • Frame Group Holdings Limited – ‘Linford is also a former group secretary of the Frame Group Holdings Limited’ (Telkom appoints Sandi Linford as Company Secretary, MyADSL, 1 June 2007).

In other words, Linford has no lack of experience when it comes to secretary work.

Telkom’s acting-CEO, Reuben September added: “In appointing Sandi as Telkom’s Company Secretary, we have no doubt that we have secured the expertise of someone who possesses more than the required attributes and credentials for the demanding role she will be expected to fulfill. At the same time, Telkom also hereby thanks Mashale for his service to the Company and we wish him well in his future endeavours” (Telkom appoints Sandi Linford as Company Secretary, MyADSL, 1 June 2007).

In other words, it seems that Linford is definitely the ‘man’ for the job because it’s clear that she gained extensive experience at some of South Africans biggest companies.

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) welcomes the appointment of Linford and wishes her the best of luck in her new role at Telkom.
