New faces at Telkom

Telkom has appointed three new Directors to the
company’s Board of Directors: Dr Victor Lawrence, Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah and Ms Reitumetse Jackie Huntley (Three new
appointments to Telkom Board, MyBroadband, 20 September
2007).
Who nominated the newly appointed
representatives?
Government.
‘Their appointments are in compliance with
paragraph 3.59 (a) of the JSE Listings Requirements and in accordance with Telkom’s articles of association whereby
Government (the Class A Shareholder) nominated Drs Lawrence, Spio-Garbrah and Ms Huntley as its representatives on
the Board of Telkom for three year terms, commencing 20 September 2007’ (Three new appointments to Telkom Board,
MyBroadband, 20 September 2007).
In other words, all three are Government
nominated representatives.
Did any board members step
down?
Yes.
‘In compliance with paragraph 3.59 (b) of the
JSE Listings Requirements, and in accordance with the articles of association of Telkom, which provides for five of
the eleven member Board to be elected by the Government (the Class A Shareholder), Dr Marius Mostert, Messrs
Dumisani Tabata and Yekani Tenza stepped down as directors of the Board on 19 September 2007, following the expiry
of their three year terms of office as Class A Shareholder representative non-executive directors’ (Three new
appointments to Telkom Board, MyBroadband, 20 September 2007).
In other words, Dr Marius Mostert, Messrs
Dumisani Tabata and Yekani Tenza stepped down because their three-year contracts expired.

Ekwow Spio-Garbrah and Ms Reitumetse Jackie Huntley. We wish them all the best in the hope that they will not
only represent Government but also South Africa as a whole on Telkom’s Board.
