New CEO of Telkom Media

Last week Telkom’s acting-CEO, Reuben September, announced the appointment of Telkom’s Chief of Corporate Affairs, Mandla Ngcobo, as CEO of Telkom Media with effect from 1 April 2007.
 
What’s Telkom Media?
 
‘Telkom Media (Pty) Ltd is a subsidiary of Telkom South Africa and was created to explore various avenues in the Information, Communications and Entertainment (ICE) environment; including cable and satellite subscription broadcast television, online and content services’
 
In other words, Telkom Media is a subsidiary of Telkom SA.
 
Why Ngcobo?
 
Experience and leadership skills.
 
September noted Ngcobo’s “solid, wide-ranging, experience at Telkom” as the primary reason why they have chosen Ngcobo and also said: “Telkom has full confidence in Mr Ngcobo’s ability to exercise decisive leadership in this extremely competitive environment” (Mandla Ngcobo new CEO of Telkom Media, MyADSL, 26 April 2007).
 
In other words, Ngcobo’s experience at Telkom as well as his leadership skills are noted as reasons on why Telkom chosen him to head Telkom Media.
