Neotel vs. iBurst
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 23
June 2008
It does not take a rocket
scientist to figure out that Neotel’s NeoConnect products are competing directly with
iBurst’s, but maybe more importantly, that iBurst will have to lower their prices considerably or face the
consequences of a consumer exodus to Neotel in the coming
months.
Despite the fact that iBurst’s coverage area is much bigger than
Neotel’s at this stage, Neotel will win the race should iBurst fail to lower their prices to more acceptable
levels. Neotel does not only offer cheaper broadband than iBurst but also faster broadband when one consider
Neotel’s uplink speeds of up to 2.4Mbps compared to iBurst’s 1Mbps. Cheaper broadband because Neotel is definitely
more consumer and value orientated. iBurst’s prices on average come in at a ridiculous 50% higher than Neotel’s. On
top of that, Neotel offers, unlike iBurst, 24-month contracts that can be cancelled at any time.
