Broadband
Internet users will welcome the news that Neotel is planning a ‘true
broadband offering’ based on WiMAX for the end of this
year. ‘Neotel is currently preparing for their CDMA trial’ (Neotel’s WiMAX broadband offering, MyADSL, 5 June
2007).
‘Neotel said that over the last few months that have been preparing to roll-out
residential and SMME offerings. These services will initially be deployed as a pilot for a limited number of
customers to test the stability of processes and systems before launching the services commercially’ (Neotel’s
WiMAX broadband offering, MyADSL, 5 June 2007).
In other words, Neotel will make sure processes and systems are properly tested
before launching their services commercially.
When will this pilot service be available?
July this year.
Neotel said: “This pilot service will be available in July this year, following the
live internal testing of the network, scheduled for later this month (June)…” (Neotel’s WiMAX broadband offering,
MyADSL, 5 June 2007).
In other words, a limited number of customers will be able to test drive Neotel’s
residential and SMME offerings in July this year.
What will the pilot service offer?
High-speed Internet access and voice services.
Neotel said: “The pilot service will offer converged high-speed
Internet access and voice services over a single device, although some pilot customers will also be requested to
test low-speed Internet and voice-only services” (Neotel’s WiMAX broadband offering, MyADSL, 5 June
2007).
In other words, customers lucky enough to be part of Neotel’s pilot service will test drive
high-speed Internet access among other
services.
