Neotel's
growing
ADSL

Neotel
, South Africa’s second national operator (SNO) is clearly
growing. This is true if the almost 300% increase in its staff
numbers since August last year can be used as a measure of
growth.
Neotel employed 38 people when they started
out in August last year, which now stands at 111 staff members
at the last count (Neotel staff numbers growing, Cara Muller,
23 January 2007). It’s expected that this number will grow
close to 250 by March this year.
So
what, Telkom
is employing 25 000
people more or less?
Very true although many of us have seen that
it’s not all in the numbers but in the quality of the service
you deliver. It’s good though to see that Neotel is growing
because it will have to grow into what can be designated a
giant to take Telkom head on.
Neotel’s management clearly understand that
they will only get to that point one step at a time. This is
why they don’t want to start a price war at this
stage, et
cetera.
Executive Head of Strategy at Neotel, Angus
Hay, has made it clear that although they ‘have reviewed over
60 000 CV’s for positions at Neotel’ (Neotel staff numbers
growing, Cara Muller, 23 January 2007) they’re only going for
the cream of the crop. One shouldn't be too surprised to see Neotel coming
out strong in terms of customer service on the end of the day
with less people pulling the wagon than at
Telkom.
Looking for a job at
Neotel?
Well, be sure to visit the
career
section of
Neotel’s website. You will not only get the opportunity
to work for a giant in the making but also to make a real
difference in the lives of thousands of South Africans.
It will be your chance to show South Africans that
qualities such as decency and respect can still be found
out there. It will be your chance to offer people
something real in exchange for their hard earned
money…
Furthermore Neotel has partnered with
iTalent, a division of CareerJunction, to help them with the recruitment process
and to bring you the very best service money can buy. Head of
Human Resources at Neotel, Ilze Porter, made it clear that such
a step was essential after they received well over 5 000 CV’s
per day via Neotel’s website. “Having such a high volume of
emailed CVs being sent into the career section of the Neotel
website meant that it was an almost impossible task to respond
to each and every potential candidate, however with iTalent
this will be very easy to do with their multiple response
handling tools” (Neotel staff numbers growing, Cara Muller, 23
January 2007).
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa)
welcomes the above news
since it means that we’re getting closer to the point
where Telkom will either have to adapt or die. Hopefully
Telkom will come to understand the meaning of the
following words in years to come: “South Africa has
spoken.”
