MWEB waiting on green light ICASA
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South
Africa), 22 January 2008
MWEB plans to extent their WiMAX trial to more users but are waiting on
The Independent Communications Authority of South
Africa (ICASA) to give them the green light. This comes after the company has already trialled
their WiMAX service for several
months.
Well-known Internet Service Provider (ISP), MWEB, is planning to
get closer to the 1000 WiMAX trial user mark by erecting an eight WiMAX base station in Cresta, Johannesburg. The
base station will be erected as soon as they get the green light from ICASA. This will be a welcome addition to the
seven active base stations they already have in Boksburg, Randburg, Soweto and elsewhere in South Africa. MWEB is
waiting on a green light from ICASA in the form of a trial licence extension. Their current trial licence will
expire today if not extended by ICASA.
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) is happy that MWEB is
planning to extent their WiMAX trial.
