MTN's price cuts pay
off
ADSL
South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 27 March
2007
MTN’s recent broadband price cuts are
definitely paying off if the massive growth in their data
bundle and price plan subscriptions tells us
anything.
MTN ‘…have seen almost a 1,000%
increase in data bundle and price plan subscriptions after
their tariffs were cut’ (1000% growth after broadband price
cuts, MyADSL, 27 March 2007). This is according to Data Bearers
and Product Manager at MTN, Brian Seligman.
In other words, MTN has no
regrets that it made the move to cut its broadband
prices.
The high figures show what’s
possible if you give South Africans what they need when it
comes to broadband. Telkom should take note.
Is MTN experiencing any
problems relating to the increase in the number of
subscribers?
No
problems so far.
‘We have more than sufficient
bandwidth available on our IP network to handle these
subscribers and are currently re-dimensioning our GPRS core
systems to allow for even greater throughput” (1000% growth
after broadband price cuts, MyADSL, 27 March 2007).
In other words, MTN is not
experiencing any problems relating to the increase in the
number of subscribers. In fact, MTN is ready to take even more
subscribers on.
ADSL South Africa
(Broadband South Africa) would like to congratulate MTN
on this achievement. It just shows again what can be done
if one takes the initiative to get the ball rolling.
Broadband consumers in South Africa will reward those who
take
initiative.
