MTN and Neotel team up
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 18
January 2009
MTN and Neotel have teamed up to build a national fiber optic network that
will span 5000km and connect major centres such as Johannesburg and
Durban.
A step in the right direction…
ADSL Broadband and other broadband users
should welcome the news that MTN and Neotel have decided to join forces in co-building a national fiber optic
network. This definitely comes as a step in the right direction, not only considering the cost savings it will
bring for the two telecoms broadband providers, but also considering the cost savings it will bring to broadband
users in South Africa. The network will connect consumers directly with the EASSy and SEACOM undersea cables, not only providing Telkom-free broadband connections, but also faster data speeds at lower
prices.
