CEO of iBurst, Thami Mtshali, also said the following, which might have come over as confusing: “iBurst doesn’t believe in fine print and this is not a promotion of limited duration” (iBurst improves offerings with additional data, MyADSL, 28 February 2007). In other words, while the promotion itself is not limited in duration, one can only carry a limited amount of unused bandwidth over to the next month. ‘Subscribers will be able to carry over unused data up to a maximum of their monthly data allocation’ (iBurst improves offerings with additional data, MyADSL, 28 February 2007).

While iBurst has also ‘partnered with Hollard Insurance and Hollard Life to bring subscribers the option to safe guard their contract and hardware in the case of unforeseen events’ (iBurst offers insurance products to users, MyADSL, 2 March 2007), it will not help to extinguish the flames of mistrust which is burning higher and higher as a result of iBurst’s ongoing misinformation campaign. ADSL South Africa smells a ‘dead rat’ at iBurst and knows this ‘dead rat’ will cost them dearly if they don’t get rid of it soon.

What will iBurst’s next claim be, that ADSL South Africa is getting paid by their competition or ‘rogue’ wireless Internet providers?

ADSL South Africa(Broadband South Africa) welcomes MTN and Sentech’s efforts to lower the cost of broadband Internet in South Africa. We hope that other ISPs will follow suit, while not following iBurst’s example, which is more based on misinformation than on real competitive benefits.
