- Mobile Broadband: 8ta mobile broadband data promotions extended to 31 March 2013
Word is out that 8ta is going to extend their mobile broadband data promotions (3GIG, 10GIG and 120GIG) to 31 March next year and that prices will remain the same. This should come as great news to those living in urban areas that still wish to get on-board the 8ta bandwagon while it is affordable and downright cheap to do so.
- Undersea Cable Systems: WACS formally launched
Word is out that the West Africa Cable System (WACS) was formally launched on Friday (11 May 2012). This comes as great news considering the potential benefits to all role players in the SA telecoms sector, including us Average Joes.
- Uncapped ADSL Specials: Axxess runs 3-day “Mother’s Day Discount” promotion
ADSL Internet Service Provider (ADSL ISP), Axxess, is running a 3-day “Mother’s Day Discount” promotion on their standard uncapped ADSL products which makes it possible to test drive Axxess’s standard uncapped ADSL service at a 90% discount.
- Uncapped ADSL: More ADSL ISPs respond with ADSL price cuts
ADSL ISPs, Axxess and Imaginet, have recently cut their uncapped ADSL prices and launched at least one new ADSL product. This came after the likes of Web Africa, MWEB and Openweb have already responded with ADSL price cuts after shortly after the “April Fools' Day Telkom Surprise”.
- Satellite Broadband: Vox YahClick has launched
Word is out that the Y1-B satellite that will be used as a launching pad for the Vox YahClick satellite broadband service later this year, a partnership between Vox Telecom and Yahsat, has successfully launched earlier this month.
