Mobile Broadband: Reichelt apologises for “4Gs”
branding
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South
Africa), 19 October 2010
Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) of Cell C, Lars Reichelt, has apologised for any confusion Cell C’s controversial “4Gs”
branding may have caused in a full-page ad in Sunday’s City Press newspaper. This has come as a surprise,
especially given Cell C’s initial stubbornness to accept a ruling of the Advertising Standards Authority of SA
(ASA) in which they were ordered to stop using the term “4Gs” in their marketing
campaigns.
A
move in the right direction…
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) won’t be
surprised if Reichelt and his team are having a good laugh behind closed doors as far as the “4Gs” controversy
are of a concern. Honestly, we doubt the sincerity of Reichelt’s apology strongly, but despite this we feel it
was a move in the right direction.
