Mobile Broadband: Cell C guy joins MultiChoice

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 6 February 2012

The guy who was behind Cell C’s clever and controversial marketing campaigns and successful brand makeover which featured Trevor Noah as the CEO or “Chief Experience Officer” of Cell C, Simon Camerer, has started at MultiChoice at the beginning of February this year. MultiChoice is the DStv operator for those of you who might have missed it.

The above has come after Camerer resigned as the Marketing Director of Cell C towards the end of last year after 7 years of service. Word is out that Simon Duffy’s restructuring at Cell C as acting CEO (Chief Executive Officer) formed part of Camerer’s decision to resign. Although not confirmed by the time this was written, he was expected to step in as a replacement for Graham Pfuhl, the Sales and Marketing Director at MultiChoice, who is at retirement age. It will be interesting to see with what sales and marketing campaigns Camerer will come up with next and what Cell C is planning to do in his absence. Interestingly enough Camerer was Marketing Director of the Walt Disney Company in Europe before he joined Cell C in March 2004. It must be the source of his creative and controversial, but winning ideas.

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) wishes Camerer all the best at MultiChoice. May he twist some arms in order to bring us more cost-effective DStv-based broadband solutions.
