JBNP is moving ahead

The Johannesburg Broadband Network Project (JBNP) is definitely moving ahead. This comes after ‘…a short list of companies which will build demonstration networks has been released’ (Citywide Joburg Broadband Network moving ahead, MyBroadband, 5 October 2007).  

First phase…
 
The JBNP ‘…was officially launched earlier this year with a Request for Information in late February. Since then the initial 25 applicants’ submissions have been assessed as part of the process to find a suitable private partner who will assist the city in building and operating the proposed broadband network’ (Citywide Joburg Broadband Network moving ahead, MyBroadband, 5 October 2007).

In other words, the initial phase of the project was all about giving potential partners the opportunity to become part of the JBNP.
