iBurst is smiling
again
ADSL
South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 22 December
2006
Recently the Advertising Standards Authority of
South Africa (ASA) ruled that iBurst may not
advertise its service as broadband. ASA overturned the
ruling however after an outcry from
iBurst and other
concerned
parties.
According to the ASA report:
“…The Directorate is satisfied that, in the current context,
the respondent’s [iBurst] service can be regarded as
broadband…” This must have come as a relief to iBurst and
others although the damage was already done. We’re sure however
that iBurst has the capability to turn over any setbacks due to
the original ruling in no time at all.
iBurst remains an attractive broadband alternative to anyone
interested in booting Telkom for something
more decent.
ADSL South Africa
(Broadband South
Africa) hopes that ASA will give more careful
consideration to the facts in the future before making any
rulings that might actually do consumers in instead of helping
them.
