iBurst to invest R350 million

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 8 January 2007

iBurst is set to invest R350 million in new infrastructure in the hope of reaching even more embattled broadband consumers in South Africa.

MD of iBurst SA, Alan Knott-Craig (Jnr), made it clear that iBurst ‘hopes to more than double its subscriber base by adding 50 000 subscribers to its current totally of 35 000 subscribers’ (iBurst in aggressive broadband push, Sikwane, 4 January 2007). This is why iBurst is set to spend more big money on a new infrastructure rollout that will commence by the end of this month.

Will iBurst be able to add 50 000 subscribers to its current subscriber base?

We believe it’s possible since Telkom is clearly struggling to meet the growing demand for new ADSL installations not to talk about proper support to its current subscriber base. iBurst is more than a suitable alternative for people wanting to go the broadband way without Telkom helping them along the way. In other words, you don’t need a Telkom phone line to make use of iBurst’s wireless broadband service. Don't forget that Neotel will be joining the party soon!

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) welcomes investment that helps to give more South Africans the opportunity to subscribe to alternative broadband services.
