Converged offerings…

Telkom is planning to launch an array of converged services in the not so far future.

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) believes this is in reaction to competitors such as Neotel that have already launched various converged offerings in a bid to win market share. This is despite the fact that we believe chances remain slim that a player such as Neotel will present a real threat to Telkom for many years to come. Reasons for this include the fact that Telkom has a massive arsenal of resources available, a huge subscriber base, years of experience, et cetera.

A list of improvements includes:

  • Average time to answer a call – Telkom has managed to bring down the average time to answer a call from a peak of 30 minutes to 60 seconds.
  • Launched new services – Telkom provided an online top up service to ADSL subscribers and launched new services such as GetMo music, et cetera.

Average time to install an ADSL service – Telkom has managed to bring down the average time to install an ADSL service to 17 days (announced recently). This is substantially below the 30 days required by the ADSL regulations. In addition, Telkom is planning to reduce the average time to install an ADSL service to less than 14 days.
