The Great Escape

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 19 November 2007

The above is not in reference to any event where Allied POWs escaped from a POW camp during World War II or a movie for that matter, but is in reference to a possible exodus of many of Telkom’s enterprise customers after Neotel (SNO) has launched their Enterprise Product Suite last week.

This can only come as good news to embattled Telkom enterprise customers who have been waiting for ages for the opportunity to drop Telkom for something more decent…

Neotel’s Managing Director, Ajay Pandey, announced the news by saying: “The shop is open” (Neotel promises significant savings, MyBroadband, 16 November 2007).

Pandey added: “It’s been a year since we launched as an operating company, and we have been working flat out laying cables, installing equipment and setting up agreements that gives us a national fibre network. We now have physical layer access to over 10,000km of fibre optic cable, and built a set of high-performance services that are uniquely flexible” (Neotel promises significant savings, MyBroadband, 16 November 2007).

In other words, Neotel has worked hard over the past year to ‘open the shop’ to enterprise customers.
