In the current financial year Telkom is planning to:

  • Increase ADSL caps – ADSL users who are subscribed to TelkomInternet’s All Access 2GB and 3GB standard offerings can expect to see their monthly bandwidth limits increasing with 1GB and 2GB respectively from the 1st of August. The bad news however is that we can expect the return of Hard Caps.

  • Leave unchanged monthly subscription charges – Telkom is planning to leave monthly subscription charges relating to ADSL (DSL), Do Broadband and TelkomInternet unchanged. We would have loved to see a drop in Telkom’s ADSL prices but welcome the fact that there will not be any increases. It is understandable that Telkom is not planning to cut their ADSL prices soon, given the fact that the likes of Neotel is simply not ready yet to compete effectively with Telkom when it comes to ADSL broadband provision.

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) is happy about the growth in the ADSL subscriber base in South Africa. We predict that the ADSL subscriber base will continue to grow, given the inability of mobile networks to deliver reliable Internet connections.
