DataPro now Vox Telecom
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 4 July
2007
DataPro has
officially changed their name to Vox
Telecom.
Why the name
change?
Strategy shift.
According to CEO Doug
Reed: “Although DataPro is well known as an investor
brand, we want to reinforce in the minds of the investment community and customers alike that we are evolving into
a hybrid telco that can serve all their voice and data needs” (Datapro re-launches as Vox Telecom, MyBroadband, 28
June 2007).
In other words, a change in strategy is the
reason behind the name change.
How has the DataPro Group changed since
its listing on the JSE in 2004?
The Group now offers a full range of voice and
data services which was not the case in 2004.
“…over the past year or so we’ve transformed
ourselves into a telecommunications service provider offering the full range of voice and data services to both
consumers and businesses. This has happened through a combination of organic growth, the creation of new start up
voice businesses within the group and acquisitions including Atlantic Internet, Definity Telecom, Orion Telecom,
VoIP Telecom and Dial telecom” (Datapro re-launches as Vox Telecom, MyBroadband, 28 June 2007). This is according
to Executive Chairman Tony van Marken.
In other words, the DataPro Group has grown into a telecoms giant through a
combination of organic growths, new start ups and acquisitions.
