'Comedy of technological errors'

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 11 June 2007

Sentech and the SABC took a beating at ICASA hearings last week. One General Manager described Sentech as a ‘comedy of technological errors’ (Sentech takes a beating at Icasa hearings, Mokgata, Sowetan, 9 June 2007).

Sentech took a beating from smaller competitors last Thursday at ICASA hearings into broadcasting licence applications. ‘What started out as a sedate hearing for broadcasting licence applications turned into a royal battle that reduced grown men to tears’ (Sentech takes a beating at Icasa hearings, Mokgata, Sowetan, 9 June 2007).

In other words, if we can’t get along let’s get it on.

How did Sentech take a ‘beating’?

Well, Sentech’s chances of getting the broadcasting licence they applied for took a beating…

‘Sentech was dealt a blow when opponents pressured Icasa to take a closer look at the relationship between Sentech and the SABC when they launched the failed satellite service, Astrasat’ (Sentech takes a beating at Icasa hearings, Mokgata, Sowetan, 9 June 2007).

In other words, Sentech’s competitors went out of their way to ruin Sentech’s chances of getting the broadcasting licences they applied for.
