Calls for 'naked ADSL' on the
increase
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 17 April
2010
More and more players in the SA telecoms arena are calling
on Telkom to allow ADSL Broadband users to purchase ‘naked ADSL’ or ADSL without the forced ADSL analogue line
rental. This is an absolute necessity if one considers that the fees payable to Telkom in terms of the ADSL
analogue line rental and access charges are costing more than an Uncapped ADSL Broadband account at this stage.
Telkom needs to come to
the party...
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) really hopes that Telkom will join the ADSL
Broadband price cut party despite the various reasons or excuses they can table for not able or
willing to do so.
Yes, business is tougher for the incumbent, but they really do need to come to the party. Many
ADSL Broadband Providers have come to the party with generous ADSL Broadband price cuts in recent
months. ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) is of the opinion that Telkom is in a position
to offer more than any other service provider out there. We don’t want to see a situation where ADSL
Broadband is givng away for free, because that certainly won't work. However, we also certainly don’t want
to see a continuation of the current situation where the cost of an Uncapped ADSL Broadband account is lower
than the fees payable to Telkom in terms of the ADSL line rental and ADSL Broadband access.
