How is Telkom combating the growing problem of cable theft?

Telkom set up a toll-free crime report line (0800 124 000 or 0860 10111), and despite its successes, even Telkom has found that more needs to be done in order to stop cable theft or at least minimize the negative effects its having on society in general.

Telkom is busy replacing copper cables with fiber optic cables, which is less attractive to criminals than copper, because it has no intrinsic value. This not only helps to discourage criminals from stealing cables but also help to bring us better ADSL Broadband. Better ADSL Broadband will aid job creation because better ADSL Broadband will help to ensure that businesses offer a better service to their customers and clients. This will aid business growth and ultimately lead to job creation.
