Alan Knott-Craig: What's all the fuss
about?
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South
Africa), 22 January 2010
A proverbial bomb has exploded in the proximity
of Alan Knott-Craig, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vodacom, and his son, Alan Knott-Craig Jnr,
former Managing Director (MD) of iBurst. This comes after claims of nepotism were made in The Sunday Times
last week. One can however not help to ask what's all the fuss
about?
What’s Nepotism?
Favouritism at a cost to
others.
WordWeb describes nepotism as “favouritism shown to relatives or close friends by those in power (as by giving them
jobs).”
In other words, when we look at a formal definition of nepotism,
you are guilty of nepotism when you are in a position of authority or power and use it to benefit family or close
friends.
