512Kbps ADSL speed upgrade
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South
Africa), 23 June 2008
All
Telkom’s 4Mbps ADSL users will receive an automatic ADSL speed
upgrade of 512Kbps by the end of this month at no additional
cost.
This must come as good news to ADSL users despite the fact that
Telkom is clearly not willing to lower the cost of ADSL to more acceptable levels. This will however come back to
bite them when the likes of Neotel starts to roll out cheap ADSL. ADSL users looking for
even greater ADSL speed upgrades will be delighted to know that
Telkom has done live testing of an 8Mbps ADSL service on their network. ADSL users will however have to wait on
additional ADSL speed upgrades. The reason for this is simply because Telkom has no plans to roll out
faster ADSL services in the immediate future than the planned 512Kbps ADSL speed upgrade.
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) welcomes Telkom’s ADSL
speed upgrade.
