ADSL price reductions

Telkom customers have a lot to smile about after Telkom announced ADSL price reductions of up to 38%. Telkom Closer Plan 4 and Closer Plan 5 subscribers will also benefit.

Telkom has announced the following ADSL price reductions on their ADSL access offerings:

• DSL 384 access price - Down 38%. From R245 to R152.

• DSL 512 access price - Down 10%. From R362 to R326.

• 4 Mbps - Down 20%. From R516 to R413.

What about price cuts on their Do Broadband ADSL products?

‘Telkom has also announced price cuts on their Do Broadband ADSL products, introducing a sub-R 200-00 offering’ (Lower ADSL Prices Announced, MyBroadband, 13 June 2007).

In other words, Telkom’s one price ADSL customers will even see more savings coming their way.

Do Broadband customers will enjoy the following savings:

• DSL 384 ADSL service with 1 GB monthly usage allowance - Down 29%. From R279 to R199.

• DSL 384 ADSL service with 2 GB monthly usage allowance - Down 29%. From R364 to R258.

• 4 Mbps ADSL service with 3 GB monthly usage allowance - Down 18%. From R675 to R554.

When will the new prices come into effect?

On the 1st of August this year.

‘The new prices will come into effect on 1 August 2007, subject to approval from ICASA’ (Lower ADSL Prices Announced, MyBroadband, 13 June 2007).

In other words, if ICASA approves Telkom customers will see the mentioned ADSL savings coming their way long before Christmas this year.
