    One cannot help to think that Cell C plans a ‘bombardment’ on high Mobile Broadband prices in South Africa. This is true if one considers the prices of two new Mobile Broadband offerings they are planning to launch soon.
  • Neotel: “Screw the Average Joes!”
    Neotel has made it clear that their main focus is going to be on the wholesale and corporate markets. This is nothing short of saying: “Screw the Average Joes!” This comes after Neotel’s miserable failure to win the hearts and minds of the Average Joes in South Africa.
  • ADSL Broadband: Axxess makes it easier to buy ADSL data bundles
    ADSL Broadband Provider, Axxess, has launched a new mobile payment technology that will make it easier to buy ADSL data bundles.
  • Wireless Internet Access: WAPA seeks action against illegal operators
    The Wireless Access Providers’ Association or WAPA has requested that the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) take urgent action against illegal or unlicensed broadband operators. These operators, estimated at over 500 at this stage, are providing electronic communications services (including Wireless Internet Access) without the required licensing to do so.
  • Communications Minister: Mohlala says no to golden handshakes
    Communications Minister, Siphiwe Nyanda, should be forced to make space for Mamodupi Mohlala, the Director General of Communications he sacked in July this year. This comes after Mohlala’s refusal to accept two golden handshakes, one made last month worth R1.6m, and the second one made last week worth R2.9m (plus an additional amount of R200 000 to cover any legal costs she may incur).
